The Magic Fish |
![]() |
One cold winter morning, I was walking through Boronia Bushland. While I was walking, I was listening to the cicadas singing like a lullaby. A gecko scuttered out in front of me. I had to stop so that I didn't step on it. I walk through this particular bushland nearly every morning on my way to school. There is something about it that makes me feel happy.
My favourite spot was not far away. It is a creek with a little waterfall. I like to sit on the log next to it and watch the fish swim around. They always seem to be in such a hurry to get where they are going. But this particular day when I sat on the log, I saw a fish that looked like a flying fish but it was all different colours. It was a combination of hot pink, fluoro green, light blue to name but a few colours on it. It swam right up to me, stuck its head out of the water and said,"Excuse me, have you seen my sister?"
I was so shocked that I just sat there in amazement. Then I replied, "No I haven't!" "Well would you mind helping me look for her? I would be very grateful." "Okay lets go," I agreed. Then the fish flew out of the water and said, "Yes! Lets go!" I walked while he flew down the stream to search for his sister. At the end of the creek, we discovered a plastic bag in the water. Inside it we could see a struggling fish stuck inside it. I carefully yanked the poor fish out by the tail. The colourful fish excitedly said,"Its my sister!! So that's where you got to! Looks like we found you just in time!" "Oh brother, I was so ooo scared." I was ashamed to be a member of the human race because one of us had dumped their rubbish in the creek and had nearly caused a catastrophe. Some people are so thoughtless!! The little fish started to swim to a safer spot up stream and looked back to me and said,"Bye and thank you for saving my life!" I decided I wouldn't tell anyone what happened as no one would ever believe my story. By Danielle from Boronia Heights State School |
